The past 6-7 years have seen a significant increase in the rise of technology and startup companies. And if I can recall, Lagos has been or should I say claims to be the continent’s startup hub and has gained a reputation in the tech industry for this assertion. It’s one of Africa’s most valuable tech ecosystem with most of its startups going on to raise a huge amount of funding. It’s also home to e-commerce giants like Jumia and Konga and also a host of some Africa’s best-known startups including Andela, Paystack, and iROKO to mention a few which have all attracted major global investor interest. Hence, it is not surprising that the world’s biggest tech companies have been paying attention. Now, they’re backing that up with actions in terms of investment and support.

On the other, Beyond its global recognition as the oil city, Port Harcourt plays host to a significant number of internationally renowned oil multinationals and conglomerates; Schlumberger, Chevron, Transocean, Total, to mention a few. Although it’s no news that the oil industry has dominated the city over time, there’s been a recent shift. Its tech scene is appearing to be growing really fast.

Companies like Cinfores, an ed-tech company that develops software solutions and advanced e-learning curriculum for schools and some organizations like, Startup PH, Startup South, Olotu square GDG PH, etc have played a big role in this transformation.

A thorough examination, assessment, and planning, Hub10 was birthed. Hub10 is a co-working space and a collaborative community for startups, innovators, creatives, and entrepreneurs.
